Summary

As Senior Product/UX Designer, I led design across multiple areas and features (Food, Annual Pass, core services, marketing landing pages) spanning the complete guest experience, from destination discovery and booking to onsite visits.

Working within Disney's international team structure, I balanced brand excellence with user needs. I conducted extensive research to inform strategic decisions to contribute to the Fantasia 2000 design system.

Challenge

  • Integrating into a multinational corporation with complex team structures, high standards, and specific workflows (Scrum, PI planning, mobile app release cycles)

  • Contributing to brand love while meeting business objectives and user needs

  • Working within an established design system (respecting rules, writing guidelines, maintaining consistency)

  • Collaborating effectively within a multi-designer team through syncs and recurrances

  • Delivering impactful designs in an environment where many projects remain on hold until priorities shift

Methodology

  • Preliminary research: UX audit of existing pages, insights consolidation from customer service, data collection from analytics team, competitive benchmarking, and preliminary user testing when needed

  • Scoping & framing: Workshops with stakeholders and relevant parties

  • UX Design: Zoning, wireframing, presenting and validating with identified validators (CEO level included)

  • UI Design & Content review: Collaboration on visual design and copywriting

  • User testing: Study-dependent approach using surveys (quantitative), qualitative video studies (unmoderated), user interviews, or onsite guerrilla testing

  • Product requirements: Documentation and handoff

Website

  • Restaurant & Dining Experience: Redesigned table reservation flow, Meal Plan presentation and selection within Ticket + Hotel booking, and character dining experience pages

  • Disney Franchise Hub: Created navigation system linking franchise-specific pages (Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, etc.)

  • PhotoPass Service: Redesigned presentation page

  • Tourism & Campaign Pages: Designed landing pages for Paris tourist market and activity programs by length of stay

Mobile App

  • Personalization & Core Journey Optimization: Homepage personalization (location/profile-based), engagement strategy, caching policy, re-opt-in strategy, and notification journey mapping

  • Core Service Pages Redesign: Redesigned daily show schedule and optimized 'Buy' conversion area (2 design options: Shop vs Trip Planner)

  • Restaurant Experience Enhancements: Table reservation flow with Meal Plan integration, notifications and reminders, Click & Collect rebranding, and Food section redesign

  • PhotoPass Service: Created presentation page and conducted digitalization study

  • Annual Pass: Led full digital transition of new Disneyland Passes, including digital key for guest room doors and Digital Pass for resort guests

  • Additional Features: Designed caching and targeted consent flows for app launch and specific user journeys

  • Self-Order Terminals: Designed self-kiosk interface and conducted on-site user interviews at launch

User Research

Studies conducted across platforms:

  • Conducted user testing on homepage (survey), food section (A/B test + interviews), table booking flow, Meal Plan presentation and selection, and date selection flow (undated tickets)

  • Deployed in-app surveys for onsite guests and Activity Tagging review (Attractions/Shows)

  • Led Map UX research and performance analysis (audit, KPIs, monitoring, AttrakDiff)

Ongoing collaboration with:

  • Customer service call center, satisfaction research team, and analytics team for insights, usage data, and technical A/B testing

Key takeaways

Most projects remained at the study stage, but they'll all be capitalized on when priorities shift, that's the reality of working at scale in a major corporation. I learned to design with long-term strategic vision, knowing that thorough research and solid foundations today become tomorrow's implementations. This experience taught me patience, stakeholder management at the highest levels, and how to maintain design excellence within complex organizational structures.
